Tips for a QR code that works.
- Share a guest network, not your main one: your devices and files stay separate from visitors.
- The network name is case-sensitive: “BistroLuna” and “bistroluna” are two different networks.
- If you change your Wi-Fi password, the old QR code stops connecting: create a new one.
- Wi-Fi QR codes are always static: the network details are stored inside the code itself.
Do guests need an app to scan a Wi-Fi QR code?
No. The camera app of iPhones (iOS 11 and later) and most Android phones reads Wi-Fi QR codes and offers to join the network.
Is my Wi-Fi password safe?
The password is inside the QR code, so anyone who scans it can join. That's why we recommend a guest network. On our side, the password is stored encrypted in your account.
Can I make a dynamic Wi-Fi QR code?
No: phones need the network details directly inside the code to join. If your password changes, simply create a new Wi-Fi QR code.
Does it work with hidden networks?
Yes, as long as you type the exact network name. Hidden networks may take a few more seconds to connect.
